It’s been a bit quiet round here again recently hasn’t it!? I guess the lack of motivation hit me for longer than I hoped. The winter is always difficult for me, I find the lack of sunlight, ability to go outside and general warmth hard to deal with. It affects my mood and makes me particularly prone to being a bit apathetic.
I’ve invested in a daylight lamp, I’ve also recently just got back from Cuba so I’m feeling a bit more on a level playing field. Hopefully that will kick the writing back into shape which I’m looking forward too!!
I’m also picking my twitter feed back up so go and have a follow if you’re around! @nonbackpacker, or follow me on Instagram @amyisabella12!
It’s been a bit quiet round here recently, I’ve been feeling a bit apathetic towards writing down what we’ve been up to and what we’re planning to do going forward which is a bit of a shame. I don’t really know why, it’s been a busy time so I guess it’s just been my brain being a bit preoccupied.
I love to write down what we have experienced as a way to remember, a way to digest the trip and a way to share. Basically I just need to get back behind the key board and get on with it!!
So, I still have some content to catch up on, the French Alps, Tanzania and I’m going to attempt my first proper hotel review at the end of this month. I have also started looking forward to what we will be doing next year…did I hear you say Cuba!?
Stick with me I will have some more for you soon!!
Part of what I am proud of is that we manage to hold down 2 full time jobs, run a household, look after 2 house rabbits and travel as much as we do. Yes, we don’t currently have any children so it is a little bit easier but it does take some pre-planning.
Come January my first job is to sort out what time off we want in the following 12 months to get the most out of our days. In the UK we have a statutory minimum of 20 days, if you’re lucky you get bank holidays on top of this and if you’re even luckier you will get more than the minimum. I understand that some jobs come with a requirement for holidays to be at certain times which can make it a little tricker but it’s all about making travel the priority.
If you really want to travel put it at the top of your list.
After rounding up 2016 I began to think forwards to this year (as everyone on the internet does) and found myself pondering over some finer points – here is my sort of not resolution for 2017!
I quite often find myself in a horrible cycle of spending my weeks wishing they would hurry up so that the weekend could come and we could do something fun. In reality, the weekends aren’t always fun and your life is predominantly made up of 9 to 5s. Maybe we should all spend less time wishing our lives away and more time living in the here and now. Just a thought!
I remember having this conversation with myself at the beginning of 2016 but I find myself a year down the line wondering where has the time gone and what have I done with all my non-holiday time!? Even 10 days into a new year I’ve spent a whole weekend doing nothing and effectively wasting it. Now I’m not saying that everyone should always be on the go all the time and sometimes a day in your PJs on the sofa with a tub of pringles is just what’s in order but I want to make that unusual and not the norm.
