Driving down the long drive into the valley to the side of Fish Hill the automatic gates open and we step into the wonderful world of The Fish.
We’ve now begun a mini tradition of taking a short break in the Cotswolds pre-Christmas to have some quality time and a much needed rest. In 2017 we visited in early December and in 2018 we went just a couple of days before the big day, both years we have opted to stay at The Fish.
A collection of accommodations located on the Farncombe Estate, you can choose from standard hotel rooms to tree houses, hideaway huts and hilly huts, which is what we opted for. The idyllic hilly huts are converted shepherds huts of the highest quality.
Each one comes with a double bed, sofa, log burner, ensuite, small decked area and a hot tub! What more could you want to achieve maximum relaxation? Gorgeous views, Netflix on the TV plus pizza and wine delivery to the hut. Okay yes, that would help.
We spent a blissful couple of days lounging about, reading, walking to the nearby town of Broadway, and chilling in the gorgeous bar and lounge. Real fires, sofas and fluffy pillows set the atmosphere. One of the things I really like is the fact that wellies are allowed! Laid back country vibe with hints of luxury. You can even borrow wellies from their boot room.
Given it was a couple of days before Christmas everywhere was decked out in stylish Christmas decorations and their winning gingerbread creation – check out their Instagram account for a pic!
Both visits have been excellent, with good food, a comfy bed, fresh air and utter relaxation. If that is what you’re looking for then you can’t go wrong with The Fish. You can even get a breakfast hamper!
Every year the festive period can be tense and trying, to be honest any time of year can be! Life just seems a lot more difficult now then it used to be. I really hope we manage to get back to the Cotswold’s and The Fish this year.
